A view of the skyline of a town in 1938 behind a man smoking a pipe in his underwear

It's 1938, we're one mile west of the Bergen Tunnel, and we're looking at the skyline of a town behind a billboard of a man smoking a pipe in his underwear.

As far as I can tell, it's in New Jersey somewhere. The image is from the Duke University website ROAD (Resource of Outdoor Advertising Descriptions), where they have thousands of historical images that I like to browse, and this one caught my eye.

If you recognize this skyline, and my best guess is that it's Jersey City, please let me know. If you're wearing Haps one piece shirt and shorts underwear, please don't tell me. Yes, I can see no climb, no bind, no buttons. I'll see if I can zoom in some more on the church back there:

Unlike most buildings in cities, churches tend to stay around. This one may still be there, so please if you recognize it let me know. Anyway, the Duke page says "One mile west of Bergen Tunnel", which I assume was written on the back of the photo when they scanned it. Other than that, I got nothin'.

I'll let you know what I find out.
